In most cases cancer causes a growth or tumor resulting from such a division of cells. While some experience signs and symptoms, others go unnoticed for a while. Most signs of cancer include some type of pain whether it is a faint feeling or a significant discomfort. A person diagnosed with cancer not only experiences emotional pain, but in most cases experiences a significant feeling of bodily pain as well. Skin cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, kidney (renal) cancer, bladder cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, thyroid cancer, and endometrial cancer are the most common cancers in the United States. Pancreatic and Leukemia are also very common cancers within the States. All cancers are different, but the one thing that is a common factor in all is the experience of pain. The pain is not only caused by the cancer itself, it is caused by the treatments as well. The pain levels vary depending on the person, type of cancer, tumor size, treatments, etc. Radiation and chemotherapy are the leading tools to treating cancer, but also the leading causes of pain. Cancer pain is also caused by the tumor pressing against major organs, etc. Grocery shopping, playing with family or pets, exercise, cleaning can feel overwhelming to those suffering of cancer pain. Having cancer pain can lead to further issues if gone untreated. It can cause lack of sleep, depression, irritability, and pain in other areas of the body due to lack of movement. Cancer pain can be treated by surgery, medicine, or radiation therapy in hopes to significantly reduce the size of the unwanted tumor. An effective non-surgical, non-invasive treatment to significantly reduce cancer pain is nerve blocks. A nerve block is an injection that injects pain medication directly to the spot of pain, which in most cases provides immediate relief. Cancer pain is not something to be taken lightly, especially when treatments are available and affordable to get the pain caused by cancer reduced significantly.
